Khelo Sikho (khelosikho.com) is run by Bigside Technologies, a sole proprietorship registered in India ("we", "us"). It makes animated English storybooks for children. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it to be read by a parent, not a lawyer.
The short version
- A parent signs in, not the child. Children never create accounts or type in their own details.
- We collect very little: your Google sign-in details, and a few details about your child that you choose to give us.
- We never keep your child's voice. Speech is turned into text so a character can answer, then thrown away.
- No ads. No trackers. We never sell or share data for marketing.
- You can ask us to delete everything, and we will, within 30 days.
What we collect, and why
- Your Google account details — your email address, name and profile picture, which Google shares with us when you sign in. Why: to sign you in and keep your child's progress across devices.
- Your child's first name. Why: so the parent screen and the stories can address your child by name.
- Your child's age, how much English they use today, the language that helps them (for example Hindi), and their reading level. Why: to start your child at the right level.
- When you gave consent. Why: to keep a record that a parent agreed.
- Progress: chapters completed, badges earned, and the words your child has learned (as word codes, never recordings). Why: so your child carries on where they left off, on any device.
- Seconds of speech used each day — a number only, with no audio and no words. Why: to keep the service fair and stop misuse.
- Anything you write to us at hello@khelosikho.com. Why: to answer you.
The story can also be played without signing in. Then nothing about you or your child is sent to us, and progress stays only on that device.
Your child's voice
When your child speaks to a character, the sound from the microphone is sent securely to our speech-recognition provider, which turns it into text so the character can respond. We do not store the audio or the text — not on your device and not on our servers. The microphone is used only while a character is listening, and your browser asks your permission first.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- No tracking or behavioural monitoring of children, and no profiling for marketing.
- No selling, renting or trading of anyone's personal data.
- No analytics or tracking tools from other companies.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of trusted service providers, only to run Khelo Sikho. Each processes data only to provide its service to us:
- A database and sign-in provider. Your account and your child's profile are stored in India.
- Google, for the "Sign in with Google" button.
- A speech-recognition provider, which turns your child's speech into text so a character can answer. It is located outside India. We do not keep the audio or the text.
- A website host, which serves the pages.
On your device
We keep a copy of your child's progress and badges in your browser, so the story loads quickly and continues where your child left off. The main copy is in your account, so it follows your child to any device you sign in on. Clearing your browser data removes the copy on that device. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your child's profile until you ask us to delete them. When you ask, we delete them within 30 days.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- see what we hold about you and your child;
- correct it — most of it you can change yourself on the parent screen;
- withdraw your consent and have it deleted;
- nominate someone to act for you if you are unable to;
- complain to us, and, if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children
Khelo Sikho is made for children, so we treat every child's data with extra care. Under Indian law anyone under 18 is a child, so only a parent or guardian may sign in and give consent. If you believe a child's data reached us without a parent's consent, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS), and our database rules let each family reach only its own data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you, and the Data Protection Board, as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how your child's data is used, we will tell you when you next sign in, before it applies.
